VICTORIAN SHORT COURSE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011 REPORT
The Victorian Short Course Championships were held at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre over August 26th to 28th 2011
10 Ovens and Murray Swimmers representing 4 of the Districts Clubs were among the 85 Victorian Clubs to compete at the Meet.
Wangaratta's Eliza Ham was the O&M Districts most successful swimmer bringing home 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals whilst breaking four country records and making top 10 finishes in another 4 events. Wodonga's Heath MacLeod was also in fine form winning 2 silver medals and narrowly missing a bronze.
Other swimmers to make finals included Georgia Stadelmann, Ben Bayes-Smith and Rachel Hindmarsh from Wodonga and Kate Brown, Grace Harmer and Elli Warren from Wangaratta.
Also representing the District were Bronson Meehan, Ben O'Brien and Brianna Rodgers from ANL, Marielle Turner from GT Aquatics, Emma Brown, Jake Colville, Isabelle Renner, Jack Synnot and Paris Woods from Wangaratta and Olivia Plunkett and Sarah Whitehouse from Wodonga.
As a result of performances at the championships, Eliza Ham has been selected in the Victorian team for the 2011 State Teams Age Short Course Championships to be held at the AIS in Canberra in mid September. Wangaratta Coach Mark Synnot has also been selected as one of the Victorian Team Coaches for this meet.
